My priority in teaching young people to learn piano is to ensure they can sightread music and develop good playing technique. I use Faber and Faber books primarily because I believe their approach helps students understand chords, theory, and musical expression so they build a strong foundation. This is the best way to ensure they can learn other instruments, go on to study for graded exams, or simply have a musical ability that will stay with them and bring them joy no matter how long they take lessons.
